We are currently preparing all things Y-Toss and are searching for volunteers to help with the collection part of Y-Toss. For those unfamiliar with Y-Toss, we are one of the YMCA's sustainability initiatives and we work to divert waste from Virginia Tech's campus. The collection takes place during students' move-out to encourage the reuse of students' belongings, then donations are held over the summer and sold to incoming freshmen in the fall. Y-Toss helps fund YMCA student programs like Meals on Main, Joining Generations, Leaders Club, and more.
So we need your help to make it happen! The collection will take place May 5th- May 10th, and volunteer hours are from 9 am - 7 pm.
In short, volunteers will manage the PODS used for collection by organizing donations and making sure no trash gets accidentally put inside the PODS.
To make everything is more convenient for our dedicated volunteers we are offering parking at the Lancaster House during your shift. We will also be offering an incentive for volunteers this year, a discount at the YMCA Thrift Shop (discounts increase the more hours you volunteer at Y-Toss)!
