Help with using drill to make holes on wall to install a curtain rod.

I do not have a lot of experience with using a drill. I have all the materials for the curtain rod and a drill. It's a bit embarrassing, but it's been difficult for me to make holes on walls before, so I'd appreciate help with learning how to use the drill. Thank you!
